Basic Statement of Functions
Summary: To increase and manage overall sales for the hotel through development and maintenance of the hotel’s customer base as well as assist the General Manager in the day-to-day leadership of the hotel. Review and understand the marketing plans, marketing budgets, and sales strategies with the Director of Sales and Marketing/Director of Sales/Hotel General Manager to obtain maximum occupancy levels and revenue levels. Consult with the Director of Sales and Marketing, Director of Sales, and General Manager concerning markets and leads and how they relate to the sales success of the hotel. Effective promoting, merchandising, prospecting, solicitation and booking of business are among the areas to be discussed.

Scope: The Sales Manager will be responsible for promoting the entire hotel including meeting space to the Corporate Market, Government, Group Market (Tours, Teams, Reunions, Conventions, etc.) with the goal of increasing occupancy and ADR resulting in increased room revenues and favorable RevPAR. This position is also responsible for e-commerce marketing to include, but not limited to, website presence and updates, social media and reputation management (Facebook, TripAdvisor, Expedia and other social media review sites as required by Management). Position interacts with all departments in the hotel as well as assists in the total operation of the hotel.
Training: Property training will come from management at the hotel. Primary sales training, and retraining as needed, will be received from the Corporate Director of Sales.

Job Specifications (Qualifications)
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED), marketing and sales course work; and/or 3-5 years in sales, preferably in hotel industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must be fluent in English. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence in concise and accurate form. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Experience with the following software: Microsoft Office, Sales Pro, and hotel’s property management system.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
 Valid state driver’s license.
 U.S. Passport or the ability to secure one.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
 Knowledge of hotel industry, especially competition and cost effectiveness.
 Ability to write letters that are concise and accurate.
 Ability to speak well to all potential customers, using appropriate language.
 Must be in good health; able to smile and always be pleasant.
 Must be able to learn and comprehend all company policies pertaining to his or her position, employment and responsibilities.
 Must possess a high sense of confidence, poise, and possess the quality of adaptability.
 Ability to communicate with team members any problems, questions, and situations which may arise during.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Must have the ability to be gone for overnight trips.
2. Assist in the implementation of programs that drive improvements in team member’s engagement and are aligned with the brand service behaviors. Develop, implement, and monitor team member succession planning to ensure future bench strength.
3. Ability to write letters that are concise and accurate
4. Ability to target and secure new business opportunities.
5. Perform cold calls to potential customers to promote your hotel as well as Town Pump Hotel Group properties.
6. Phone, email, or mail competitive information to prospective guests to promote your hotel.
7. Establish an effective sales call cycle for key customers, partners, and contacts.
8. The ability to meet sales call quotas and deadlines as established by management.
9. Place advertising and track its effectiveness to promote your hotel.
10. Represent your hotel by operating a booth during trade shows and conventions.
11. Act as public relations representative to raise awareness of hotel and brand in local community.
12. Assist in handling complaints or requests from guests in the form of letters, emails, phone calls, via social media, or in person.
13. Represent the company by entertaining vendors and potential clients.
14. Assist in the development and implement of a Sales & Marketing Plan for your hotel.
15. Assist in the creation of a yearly budget for your hotel.
16. Analyze hotel statistics to formulate sales strategies.
17. Review market analysis to determine customer needs, volume potential, price strategies and discount rates, and develop sales campaigns to accommodate goals of hotel.
18. Research and develop long range planning documents to support future sales/marketing decisions.
19. Offer guests assistance whenever possible.
20. Responsible for reporting any deficiencies at the hotel to the General Manager.
21. Attend and participate in the weekly revenue management meeting.
22. Attends and assists with monthly all-staff meetings.
23. Perform functions of the General Manager in his/ her absence.
24. Any other duties as assigned by General Manager or Corporate Sales Directors.
