Network Administrator

Summary: Responsible for all aspects of Town Pump’s voice and data networks. This includes implementing updates, identifying and solving problems, providing end user technical support, and the security and monitoring of Town Pump systems. The Network Administrator participates on multifunctional project teams for delivery of business solutions that will include technical implementation, security controls, and solution delivery based on defined performance criteria, cost measures, and project milestones.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned):

  • Develops procedures and methods for operational tasks required to maintain the data network and related systems in reliable, stable operation. Performs monitoring and analysis of all hardware, network resources, and key processes to verify integrity, availability, and efficiency.
  • Responsible for the integrity and efficiency of Town Pump’s integrated network environment. 
  •  Responsible for minimizing business disruptions through simulations and test runs. Performs required actions to restore and protect Town Pump’s systems in the event of business disruptions.
  • Provides Tier II and Tier III support for network infrastructure request and issues.
  • Responsible for establishing and following procedures and policies to provision and de-provision user accounts.

Other (Knowledge Skills or Abilities):

  • Responsible for the implementation and support of network technologies including: Wide Area Networks, Local Area Networks, switching devices, and remote connectivity
  • Knowledge of: Cisco IOS, Routing, Switching, Firewalls, WiFi solutions, Radius Authentication, DHCP and network monitoring solutions.
  • Ensure that version control and backups are in place for all Network Equipment
  • Adequately monitor the network and note any capacity planning and performance adjustments that are needed
  • Ensure that we are at a supported level of code for all network equipment.
  • Daily Operations – Proactively monitor network performance and connectivity to all remote sites
  • Proactively monitor all hardware and ensure that all hardware issues are addressed immediately
  • Follow and provide guidance for peers on Infrastructure Services team
  • Document and distribute network designs and maintain diagrams as network changes are made
  • Support of remote sites connectivity via VPN, MPLS, DMVPN and other technologies.
  • Support of remote vendors and data connections who connect to / from our systems.
  • Work with 3rd party support to resolve operational issues for the network.
  • Ability to author effective “how-to” support requirements and documentation, including run book automation.
  • Demonstrated root cause analysis (RCA) skills and able to provide or recommend effective timely resolution.

Education and/or Experience:  Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Certificates and Licenses:  

  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
